Biscarrosse - Land of Lakes

Our holiday park La Réserve is in a stunning natural setting in Aquitaine, the region of big lakes. It sits on Biscarrosse, the northernmost of three lakes that are linked by a picturesque canal. Biscarrosse lake covers 5,600 hectares and is the second biggest in France. It was formed some 4,000 years ago and is now a little paradise surrounded by pine forest ¬– an ideal setting for bathing, boat rides, fishing, picnics or rambling. Kids will love the water meadows and reeds for spotting colourful birds, while the woods are home to deer, roebuck and other animals.

Best of all, La Réserve campsite has its own private sandy beach on the lake from where you can try watersports with one of our two partners. Don’t worry if your water sport skills are a bit rusty – the Nautil Club offers stand-up paddle and catamaran lessons as well as windsurfing, kayaking or canoeing, and the Ski Club will help beginners have a go at water-skiing and parasailing. The lake’s clear, calm water and gently sloping white, sandy beaches are well suited to young families as a good alternative to the ocean for a splashy paddle when the surf is up. While the kids get wet and wild, or make the most of the playground on the beach, you can enjoy the beach bar on the lake. There’s even a private marina for mooring a boat (if you’re lucky enough to own one!) – many of our caravan owners agree that there’s little better than messing about on the water on a summer’s day…

Siblu’s La Réserve holiday park is set in the heart of the Landes pine forest in South West France and boasts its own private beach on the sandy shores of the huge Lake Biscarrosse. This unique lakeside location makes it perfect for young children (who can paddle safely in the shallows) and water sports enthusiasts (who can enjoy activities like sailing on the lake’s calm waters).

Dinner on the Lake at Le Lac Des Rêves Campsite

Further south in the Languedoc region, our Le Lac des Rêves holiday village overlooks the marshy Étang de Pérols lake. There’s no direct access to this lake and you can’t swim in it as it’s a protected natural reserve of the Camargue region, but there’s plenty of water-based fun on the campsite itself and the nearby beaches (three miles). Still, what could be better after an action-packed day than a family or romantic meal in our restaurant while listening to the water lapping the shores of the lake? The restaurant, terrace, pools and some of the mobile homes overlook the lake, so you can enjoy watching the wildlife or just drinking in the peaceful atmosphere at any time of day.

Montpellier, Languedoc
