Cities & Towns
The South of France is home to so many internationally-renowned towns and cities: don’t miss the chance to experience them in person when you stay in one of our southern parks! Not far from Le Montourey you’ll find the infamous city-state of Monaco, known for being one of the world’s smallest countries (with some of the richest inhabitants). Famous for its casino, royal family and Formula 1 racing, it’s a completely unique location for a day trip. The seaside city of Nice is also well worth exploring for its history, culture, architecture, and, of course, the palm-lined Promenade des Anglais. Another particularly glamorous South of France resort on the Côte d’Azur is St-Tropez. Further west, Languedoc is also full of fascinating towns and cities. Montpellier is a lively student city with a history that stretches back to the middle ages. However, to really step back to the medieval times you should take a trip to the fortified city of Carcassonne, a UNESCO world-heritage site.

Day trips/Events
For a splash-tastic day out for all the family to enjoy, why not check out the Aqualand waterparks? Aqualand parks are popular all over France and two of them can be found in the South of France, not far from our Siblu campsites (at Fréjus in the Côte d’Azur and Cap d’Agde in Languedoc). If that’s not enough thrill-seeking for you, you’ll be pleased to know that the South of France also has a brilliant selection of static funfairs with rides and games for all ages to enjoy: Europark at Vias Plage and Luna Park in the Côte d’Azur are two great examples. Meanwhile, a day-trip cycling along the Canal du Midi in Languedoc is a great option for a more gentle kind of fun. The canal is an extraordinary feat of engineering and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site: you can join its cycle paths not far from Siblu’s La Carabasse holiday park. For fans of culture and music, it’s worth taking a look at what’s coming up in next year’s Festival de Carcassonne (usually held in July). The festival showcases a range of brilliant concerts and exhibitions in a stunning historical setting.

Food, drink & perfume
The South of France is also renowned for its culture, especially its food and drink. The Mediterranean cuisine in this part of the world (Provence in particular) is unbeatable, especially when it makes use of the freshest local ingredients. Think fragrant herbs, olive oil, truffles, seafood and traditional regional dishes such as Salade Niçoise, Daube Provençal (hearty beef stew) and Bouillabaisse (fishy soup). It’s the kind of dining you won’t experience anywhere else in the world, especially when accompanied by a glass of amazing local wine. Bon appétit! To continue the sensory experience, why not visit Grasse, which is considered to be the world capital of perfume (and which is only 50 minutes away from Le Montourey). You can even take a look around the international perfume museum. Who knows, maybe one of your family members will discover a hidden talent for scents and a future as a perfume master?
